Morgan McKinley is delighted to be partnering with a leading energy generation business in the search for a Maintenance & Engineering Manager to join their site leadership team.

This is a key leadership appointment for a critical power generation facility, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the site's engineering, maintenance and asset reliability strategy while leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians.

The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant, driving engineering standards, maintenance performance, asset integrity and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

The Opportunity

The Maintenance & Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading all maintenance and engineering activities, ensuring plant availability and reliability targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance and operational excellence.

Working closely with Operations, HSE and Commercial teams, you will provide technical leadership across the facility, oversee major maintenance activities and outages, and contribute to the long-term engineering strategy for the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance team.
  • Drive a proactive maintenance and reliability culture focused on asset performance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain engineering and maintenance procedures, standards and work practices.
  • Manage maintenance planning, scheduling and execution to maximise plant availability and reliability.
  • Lead major maintenance outages, inspections and shutdown activities.
  • Provide technical guidance on equipment reliability, defect elimination and root cause analysis.
  • Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards.
  • Oversee long-term service agreements and support contractor performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering, environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Support the development of site asset management and life-cycle planning strategies.
  • Manage engineering and maintenance budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering activities are executed in accordance with site HSE requirements.
  • Support the ongoing development of engineering capability, training plans and competency frameworks within the team.
  • Contribute to site capital projects and plant improvement initiatives where required.
Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with experienced engineering leaders who have operated within power generation, utilities, energy, heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments.

You will have a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability and commercial awareness, with a proven track record of improving plant performance, reliability and maintenance effectiveness.

Requirements
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Significant experience within power generation, utilities, process plant or heavy industrial environments.
  • Previous leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance, reliability and asset management principles.
  • Experience managing planned outages, shutdowns or major maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Strong contractor and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience managing budgets and engineering expenditure.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills.
