Job summary

Nscale is seeking a Reliability Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to support its EMEA data centre estate with cross-discipline M&E expertise. You’ll be the technical escalation point for on-site teams, driving maintenance standards and engineering assurance across owned, operated, and colocation sites.

You’ll focus on high-density AI cooling, power resilience, and safe live-incident recovery, while contributing to continuous improvement of M&E standards and site audits.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in building services engineering within critical environments.
• Hands-on expertise in either mechanical or electrical systems and credible knowledge of the other.
• Experience carrying out M&E design reviews and reviewing engineering standards compliance.
• Experience conducting technical audits, including third-party or colocation facilities.
• Able to provide technical sign-off on change requests and assess operational risk on live M&E systems.
• Experience leading or contributing to RCA and CAPA following M&E incidents.
• Confident supporting site teams under pressure during live incidents and coaching engineers.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• M&E Technical Support: Act as the technical escalation point for on-site Operations teams across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Set and maintain maintenance standards, defining the technical baseline for all sites.
• Provide input into procurement and ensure scope and requirements are fit for purpose.
• Design Review & Engineering Assurance: review at concept, detailed design and pre-handover stages.
• Review vendor and consultant submissions against engineering standards.
• AI Infrastructure Support: focus on AI rack cooling and power distribution systems.
• Change & Compliance: own change approval and sign-off across sites.
• Audits: run technical audits as part of the standards program.
• Site audits: assess partner infrastructure and track findings to closure.
• Incidents & RCA: assist during live incidents and guide safe recovery.
• Root Cause Analysis: drive CAPA through to completion and improve fault resolution.
