Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Lead Linux Kernel Engineer (Ubuntu based) in Ireland. This senior role shapes architecture, development, and delivery of a large-scale Linux kernel platform.

You will guide kernel performance, packaging, and hardware enablement, collaborating with silicon and cloud partners, mentoring distributed teams, and driving open-source initiatives.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of kernel/low-level systems experience.
• Expert in C programming language.
• Unix-like kernel experience; Linux strongly valued.
• Python and Bash scripting proficiency.
• Git workflows for complex development.
• Experience with Ubuntu/Debian packaging is valuable.
• Excellent English communication; distributed work experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for kernel team and delivery of engineers.
• Lead architecture across performance, correctness, security, packaging, and large-scale distribution.
• Engage with silicon and cloud partners to deliver optimal solutions.
• Drive kernel hardening and security enhancements.
• Improve Linux kernel performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Develop packaging approaches for complex components.
• Coordinate cross-team initiatives and schedules.
• Mentor engineers and guide technical challenges.
