Job summary

PFH Technology Group in Dublin is seeking an experienced Senior Java/JEE Technical Team Lead to guide the design, development, modernization and delivery of enterprise applications.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to development teams, drive application modernization initiatives on Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes, and ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in Java/JEE and technical leadership.
• Proven experience leading development teams and modernization programmes.
• Experience deploying on OpenShift, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Strong CI/CD experience with Jenkins, GitLab, Maven, SonarQube and Artifactory.
• Experience with ActiveMQ (JMS), Keycloak, 3Scale and third‑party integrations.
• Solid SDLC understanding and Agile/DevOps practices.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• OpenAPI, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, Progressive Web Apps (PWA), EJB2/EJB3, Drools and security design.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor development teams with architectural guidance.
• Drive modernization to OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container platforms.
• Design, develop, and support enterprise Java applications and integration services.
• Manage code quality through reviews, testing, CI/CD, and release governance.
• Own technical decisions, solution design, and architecture.
• Ensure milestones and production releases are delivered.

• Support incident management and continuous improvement activities.

Overview:

PFH Technology is partnering directly with a Dublin based Client who seeks an experienced Java/JEE Technical Team Lead to lead the design, development, modernization, and delivery of enterprise applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to development teams, drive application modernization initiatives on Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes, and ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor development teams while providing technical direction and architectural guidance.
• Drive the modernization of legacy applications to OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container-based platforms.
• Design, develop, and support enterprise Java applications and integration services.
• Manage code quality through code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and release governance.
• Own technical decision‑making, solution design, and application architecture.
• Ensure successful delivery of project milestones and production releases.
• Develop and review unit and integration test plans.
• Support incident management, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
• Manage source code, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer to team members and stakeholders.
• Promote software engineering best practices and development standards.

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

• 8+ years' experience in Java/JEE software development and technical leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading development teams and application modernization programmes.
• Experience developing and deploying applications on Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Strong CI/CD experience using Jenkins, GitLab, Maven, SonarQube, and Artifactory.
• Experience with ActiveMQ (JMS), Keycloak, 3Scale, and third‑party system integrations.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices.
