Job summary

CarTrawler is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to design, build and evolve scalable Java services and RESTful APIs powering our core travel platform and customer experiences. You will lead technical design discussions with Architects, Product Managers and Engineering Managers, delivering simple, scalable and maintainable solutions while championing engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of enterprise Java experience (Java 17+) with Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Strong object-oriented design and knowledge of distributed backend systems.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating with external services.
• Solid SQL, relational databases, Git, Maven and modern CI/CD in Agile environments.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to influence technical decisions and mentor others.
• Curiosity for AI-assisted tooling with secure, high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve scalable Java services and RESTful APIs.
• Lead technical design discussions with Architects, PMs and Engineering Managers to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Build resilient integrations with payment providers, travel partners and third-party technologies.
• Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, observability, CI/CD and best practices.
• Mentor and support engineers through coaching and knowledge sharing.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, improving performance, reliability and scalability, while embracing AI-assisted development responsibly.
