Job summary

Cpl Group are partnering with a leading financial services organisation to hire a Senior Java Developer for a global technology team. You'll build a workflow platform that supports sales traders in structuring, valuing and matching interest rate deals, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment close to the business.

You'll work on trading workflow applications using modern Java, participate in Agile ceremonies, and collaborate with traders, product owners and DevOps across regions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
• Strong core Java skills, including streams, lambdas and concurrency.
• Experience with multi-threaded and asynchronous applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance trading workflow applications using Java.
• Deliver functional and non-functional requirements with extensible code.
• Collaborate with traders, product owners, analysts and developers across regions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and ship software in short cycles.
• Provide third-line support and resolve production issues.
• Monitor and optimize application performance.
• Improve development tooling, release processes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Risk, Quant, DevOps and Finance teams as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance trading workflow applications using modern Java (Java 25)
• Deliver functional and non-functional requirements, keeping the codebase extensible and reliable
• Work with traders, product owners, analysts and development teams across regions
• Take part in Agile ceremonies and ship software in short cycles
• Provide third-line support and help resolve production issues
• Monitor, profile and tune application performance
• Improve development tooling, release processes and CI/CD pipelines
• Work with Risk, Quant, DevOps and Finance teams where needed

Requirements

• Around 8+ years' software development experience
• Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline
• Strong core Java skills, including streams, lambdas and concurrency
• Solid grounding in algorithms, data structures and distributed systems
• Experience with multi-threaded and asynchronous applications
• Experience with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and OpenShift
• Strong test-driven development practices
• Experience with JVM profiling, tuning and debugging
• Nice to have: React/TypeScript, Kafka, containerised or cloud deployments, low-latency development, or pricing/risk experience in investment banking
