Job summary

Confluence, located in Ireland (Dublin), seeks a senior networking engineer to own the enterprise network from design to operations in a multi-site environment. You will work with IT stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure network solutions and drive ownership across the lifecycle.

You will lead troubleshooting, optimize performance, and document best practices while mentoring the team and reducing vendor dependency. Strong Cisco Firepower/ISE/SD-WAN experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in enterprise IT infrastructure or networking.
• Hands-on Cisco (Firepower, ISE, SD-WAN).
• Networking infra knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing).
• Routing protocols across multi-site (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• Experience designing, implementing, and transitioning to production.
• Strong troubleshooting incl. root cause/resolution.
• Health of infra – patching, upgrades, configurations.

We are looking for a senior, hands‑on networking engineer who will own enterprise infrastructure end‑to‑end – from initial design through implementation and into steady‑state operations. You will work closely with infrastructure and business stakeholders to deliver complex network solutions that are scalable, secure, and fully embedded into ongoing support. This role strengthens internal expertise and reduces reliance on external vendors, placing you at the center of critical infrastructure transformation initiatives.

As a true subject‑matter expert you will lead troubleshooting, optimize performance, and drive continuous improvement across the network estate. You will also enable the wider team through knowledge transfer, documentation, and best practices. What Skills and Experience Do I Need?

Essential Requirements

• 8+ years’ experience in enterprise IT infrastructure or networking roles
• Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco technologies (Firepower, ISE, SD‑WAN – Viptela/Catalyst)
• Deep knowledge of network infrastructure (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing)
• Expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) across multi‑site environments
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and transitioning solutions into production
• Strong troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis and incident resolution
• Experience maintaining infrastructure health (patching, upgrades, configurations)

Desirable Requirements

• Experience in SaaS or cloud‑based environments
• Exposure to virtualized infrastructure (e.g., VMware)
• Familiarity with enterprise storage platforms (e.g., NetApp)
• Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible)
• Cisco certifications (CCNP or CCIE)
