Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to lead design delivery for HV/EHV projects up to 400kV, from tender through handover, within our Ireland and Continental Europe Power & Energy portfolio.

You will provide technical leadership on HV cable system design, perform calculations, ensure CDM compliance, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors across FEED and detailed design stages for HV and HVDC systems.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Power Engineering (or equivalent) required.
Extensive experience in energy sector consultancy or utility environment.
Proven ability to lead HV/EHV cable designs across multiple project stages.

Responsibilities

Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design and design reviews.
Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
Prepare plant/equipment specifications, power cable route specs, tender specifications, and progress reports.
Interface with other engineering functions; attend/lead meetings with clients and subcontractors.
Perform technical calculations including cable size, rating, TMF and EMF calculations, and sheath-induced voltage.
Perform design reviews and verification of design.
Ensure all project designs comply with CDM regulations and applicable laws.
Assist with temporary works design schemes.
Maintain good relations with client/designer/supply chain.
Ensure drawings/specifications contain sufficient information for construction; request missing data timely.
Ensure inspection and test plans are completed as per PMP/Specification.
