Job summary

Arup in Ireland is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical design and construction support for major international commissions, including hyperscale data centres and landmark infrastructure.

You will deliver geotechnical solutions for nationally significant projects in Ireland, manage project delivery and budgets, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to standards development. The role offers opportunities across Ireland and Europe.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; post-graduate geotechnical qualification is an advantage.
• 6+ years in geotechnical design/construction with strong technical depth.
• Expertise in deep excavations, foundations, earthworks, and slope stability; GIS & numerical analysis proficiency.
• Strong communication, report-writing and budget/client management capabilities.
• Commitment to CPD; Chartered status with a professional body is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design and construction support for major international commissions.
• Deliver geotechnical solutions for Irish infrastructure projects like Metrolink and DART+.
• Provide expert input for educational, pharmaceutical, industrial, and commercial developments.
• Manage project delivery, budgets and client interactions with high-quality outcomes.
• Support senior leaders in expert witness work and mentor junior engineers.
