Job summary

Slalom is a global, human-centric consulting firm and we’re excited to welcome a Senior Software Engineer to our Dublin team to drive world-class software. You will design, develop and deliver backend services and APIs using C#/.NET, Python or Java, and build modern frontend apps with React or TypeScript.

• Experience building modern web applications using React or TypeScript.
• Experience designing scalable APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
• Understanding of frontend architecture, state management, API integration and responsive design.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and deployment concepts.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerisation and observability.

Life as a Senior Engineer

A Senior Engineer plays a fundamental role in shaping and delivering amazing software solutions to client challenges during discovery and delivery. You will partner with teams to understand the challenges they are facing as well as develop implementation and delivery plans that take advantage of emerging technologies at scale. During client delivery you will collaborate with Solution Owners, Quality Engineers and Experience Designers to ensure that world class user experiences are understood, validation procedures are aligned and automation components are delivered.

Within our capability you'll be seeking to develop and grow your skills whilst advocating for progression of our capability on exciting frontiers such as Machine Learning and Generative AI.

Specifically, you will:

• Design, develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs using EITHER C#/.NET, Python or Java, applying clean code principles, design patterns, and modern software engineering practices.
• Build modern, responsive and accessible frontend applications using EITHER React or TypeScript, focusing on exceptional user experiences and performance.
• Build quality, reliable and performant applications, with a strong focus on maintainability, security and scalability.
• Design and implement distributed systems, event driven architectures and scalable integrations between services and applications.
• Implement containerisation using Docker and support scalable deployments using orchestration tools where appropriate.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient, automated and reliable software delivery.
• Foster a culture of inclusion and engineering excellence while promoting well-being, diversity and collaboration across the organisation.

What You'll Bring

• Commercial experience building modern web applications using EITHER React or TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing scalable APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
• An understanding of frontend architecture, state management, API integration and responsive design principles.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure or AWS), including deployment and infrastructure concepts.
• An understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerisation, observability and testing.
• A collaborative mindset, passionate about sharing knowledge and driving engineering best practices.
