Job summary

Hopper is seeking a senior full stack engineer to anchor HTS Assist, owning the realtime and voice layer end-to-end while building across React/TypeScript front ends, Scala and Python services, and cloud infrastructure on GCP/AWS.

The role focuses on multi-tenant scale, safety and compliance, observability, and mentoring within a lean, senior team. Independent contractor engagement with ownership of the code that powers traveler interactions is offered.

Qualifications

• 6+ years software engineering experience with production systems ownership.
• Hands-on realtime systems experience (voice apps, WebRTC, streaming or low-latency products).
• Strong frontend with React/TypeScript and backend in Scala or Python.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools as part of workflow and responsible ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own the voice channel end to end, including telephony integrations (Twilio, CPaaS).
• Build features across the stack with React/TypeScript frontend and Scala/Python services.
• Design for multi-tenant scale with a single codebase configurable for partners.
• Implement safety, compliance, auditing, and PII redaction points.
• Maintain observability, SLAs, and incident response while keeping deployments healthy.
• Mentor team members and contribute to architectural reviews.
