SENIOR FULL STACK AZURE DEVELOPER

This is a hybrid role, with the successful candidate required to attend the client's Kerry office twice a week.

The organisation is seeking a highly experienced and hands‑on Senior Full Stack Azure Developer to design, build, and deploy enterprise‑grade, cloud‑native applications using Microsoft Azure.

The successful candidate will have strong full stack development experience, with particular expertise in React.js, Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript, and Node.js, combined with a strong understanding of microservices, RESTful APIs, cloud architecture, DevOps, and Agile delivery methodologies.

Role Description:

The Senior Full Stack Azure Developer will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of scalable enterprise applications within a modern Azure environment.

Working closely with product, architecture, DevOps, QA and other technology teams, the successful candidate will contribute to technical design decisions, development standards and the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

The role will involve both hands‑on development and technical leadership, with an expectation that the successful candidate can take ownership of complex technical initiatives and provide guidance to other members of the development team.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development

Lead the design and development of enterprise applications using:

• React.js for frontend development
• Java / Spring Boot for backend development
• TypeScript / Node.js for backend and integration development

Design and implement scalable, maintainable and secure application architectures.

• Develop responsive, accessible and user-friendly interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Apply strong object-oriented programming principles, software engineering practices and established design patterns.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable and well-tested code.

Azure & Cloud Development

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure.
• Work extensively with Azure services including:
  • Azure API Management (APIM)
  • Azure Event Hub
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure Database for PostgreSQL
• Contribute to cloud architecture and technical design decisions.
• Ensure applications are designed for scalability, resilience, security and maintainability.

APIs & Microservices

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and distributed services.
• Develop and maintain scalable microservices architectures.
• Establish effective integration patterns between applications, services and data platforms.
• Apply appropriate authentication, authorisation, security and API management principles.

Data & Integration

• Work with both relational and non-relational databases.
• Design effective data models and database structures.
• Develop SQL-based solutions and integrations.
• Work with integration layers and enterprise data services.

DevOps & Engineering Practices

• Contribute to modern CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Work with automated build, testing, deployment and release processes.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support cloud deployments.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes would be advantageous.
• Promote high standards around code quality, automated testing, security and operational readiness.

Agile Delivery & Leadership

• Work within an Agile development environment and contribute to:
  • Sprint planning
  • Backlog refinement
  • Sprint reviews
  • Retrospectives
  • Technical planning and estimation
• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, QA, DevOps and other technology teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other developers where required.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, ideally within full stack development roles.
• Demonstrable experience developing solutions using Microsoft Azure.
• Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using React.js and Java.
• Expert-level knowledge of React.js and modern web application architecture.
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, including Node.js development.
• Extensive experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
• Strong practical experience with Azure services such as API Management, Azure Functions, Event Hub, App Services and PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and data modelling.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Strong understanding of modern software development lifecycle and engineering practices.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to take ownership, demonstrate initiative and work independently when required.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against deadlines.

Desirable Experience:

• Azure or other recognised cloud certifications.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of cloud security, identity, authentication and authorisation.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.
