Senior Front End Developer

Based : Dublin – 3 days onsite

Duration : 12+ months, highly extendable

The Role

A Front-End Developer (Senior) is expected to have a deep understanding of front-end technologies such as React JS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Typescript. They should also have deep expertise in accessibility standards, WCAG 2.1, screen readers, experience collaborating with designers and back-end developers and be able to optimize applications for performance and responsiveness.

Your responsibilities:

• Responsible for the front-end build of responsive web sites.
• Develop modern web applications and own the quality of the React, HTML, CSS and JavaScript/Typescript.
• Ensure security by design principles, GDPR and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) requirements in front end code delivery.
• Build and maintain applications both on premises and on the cloud (Azure).
• Build unit tests and ensure code quality.
• Utilize modern frameworks and libraries to transform the customer experience.
• Utilize automation, CI/CD and agile delivery methodology.
• Provide website maintenance and enhancements.
• Write functional requirement documents and specifications.
• Create quality prototypes to tight timelines.
• Assist back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting.
• Maintain graphic standards and branding throughout the product’s interface.
• Promote usability best practices.
• Develop user-friendly web pages using a variety of programming languages.
• Develop high-quality mockups and design different prototypes.
• Develop high-quality graphics and visual elements.
• Optimize web-based applications for maximum speed.
• Develop new user-facing features.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Review the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Utilize markup languages like HTML to create user-friendly web pages

• Work closely on a cross functional team with other roles such as Back-end developers, Project Managers, web designers, QA, etc.
• Lead web projects, of various sizes, from concept to implementation, including weighing in on key architectural decisions
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members or act as a subject matter expert (SME) in a particular technology
• Participate in Agile/Scrum Software Development Life Cycle
• Lead code and architecture reviews

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

• 8+ years of experience as a Front-end Developer.
• 8+ years of development experience with ReactJS, JavaScript, Typescript, CSS3, HTML5.
• In depth technical experience on accessibility standards, WCAG 2.1 and screen readers.
• 8+ years of experience with Responsive Design, grid frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundation, etc.), and developing on multi-platform/multi-browser compatibility (IE 10+, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari).

• Knowledge of human-computer interaction design and leading practices.
• Experience with integrating with REST / APIs and microservices.
• Experience with unit testing of UI (automation of testing desirable).
• Knowledge of front-end security best practices.
• Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git / Mercurial / SVN.
• In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment).
• Experience developing for mobile and tablet platforms.
• Experience with data visualization development (D3, Bokeh, Javascript).
• Good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, DurandalJS etc.
• Understanding of layout aesthetics.
• Excellent knowledge of browser troubleshooting and debugging practices and techniques.
• Knowledge of graphics software such as Adobe Suite, Photoshop etc.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Great time-management skills.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Significant experience in Software Development and Agile Methodologies.
• Significant experience in front end development frameworks e.g. Angular, VUE etc.
• Significant Experience in CI/CD and DevSecOps platforms.
• Experience in Cloud Technologies and Platforms e.g. Azure.
• Experience in incident, change management and transition processes.
• Reporting, documentation/writing skills.
• Excellent Organizational skills.
• Experience with a wide range of IT environments, platforms and applications.
• IT Qualification – Degree or equivalent work experience.

Candidates should hold appropriate RTWs for Ireland i.e. Stamp1G Dependant, Stamp 4, Irish/British/EU passport.
