Job summary

Elite Talent Hub LTD in Cork is seeking a reliable Forklift Yard Operative to join a busy builders’ merchants. You will operate forklifts safely, manage goods inwards and order fulfilment, keep the yard tidy and secure, and assist trade customers in the yard.

This full-time permanent role is 39 hours per week, with a pay rate of €15.00–€17.00 per hour depending on experience. A valid forklift licence and manual handling certificate are essential, and you must be safety‑minded and able to work as

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload and move materials.
• Receive, check and log deliveries, ensure secure storage.
• Accurately pick, pack and load materials for vehicles.
• Maintain a clean, safe yard and warehouse area.
• Monitor stock levels and highlight low stock to management.
• Inspect and maintain forklifts according to safety protocols.
• Assist trade and retail customers in the yard.

As a core member of the team, you will be responsible for the seamless organization, safety, and upkeep of the yard and warehouse areas. Key Responsibilities

• Forklift Operations: Safely and efficiently operate forklifts to load, unload, and move building materials and heavy stock across the yard and warehouse.
• Goods Inwards: Receive, check, and log incoming deliveries, highlighting any anomalies and ensuring correct, secure storage in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Order Fulfillment: Accurately pick, pack, and load materials onto company and customer vehicles.
• Yard Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free yard and warehouse environment, ensuring stock is clearly identifiable.
• Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels and proactively highlight low stock to management to ensure continuous product availability.
• Vehicle Care: Inspect, utilize, and maintain forklifts in strict accordance with company health and safety protocols.
• Customer Service: Assist trade and retail customers in the yard with a friendly, helpful, and dependable attitude.
• Security & Teamwork: Remain security-conscious to safeguard company property and collaborate effectively with team members to optimize daily operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Forklift Experience: Extensive, proven experience operating forklifts in a fast‑paced environment (e.g., builders' merchants, construction yards, or heavy warehousing) is essential.
• Licences: Must hold a valid, up‑to‑date Forklift Licence.
• Certifications: A valid Manual Handling Certificate is highly desirable.
• Customer Service: Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Industry Knowledge: Prior experience or knowledge of building and plumbing materials is a distinct advantage, though not essential.
• Attributes: Reliable, safety‑oriented, physically fit, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a busy team.
