Job summary

Elite Talent Hub LTD is seeking a reliable Forklift Yard Operative in Cork. You will operate forklifts, manage goods inwards, pick and load materials, and maintain a safe, organized yard with a strong focus on customer service.

The role requires forklift experience, a valid forklift licence, and a readiness to work 39 hours per week in a busy builders’ merchants environment. Candidates with manual handling certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts safely to load, unload and move materials across the yard and warehouse.
• Receive, check and log incoming deliveries and store securely per health and safety guidelines.
• Accurately pick, pack and load materials onto vehicles for delivery.
• Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free yard and warehouse with clearly identifiable stock.
• Monitor stock levels and flag low stock to management to ensure availability.
• Inspect and maintain forklifts in line with health and safety protocols.
• Assist trade and retail customers in the yard with a helpful attitude.
• Remain security-conscious to safeguard company property and support daily operations.

Hours: 39 hours per week

Salary: €15.00 – €17.00 per hour (Depending on experience)

As a core member of the team, you will be responsible for the seamless organization, safety, and upkeep of the yard and warehouse areas. Key Responsibilities

• Forklift Operations: Safely and efficiently operate forklifts to load, unload, and move building materials and heavy stock across the yard and warehouse.
• Goods Inwards: Receive, check, and log incoming deliveries, highlighting any anomalies and ensuring correct, secure storage in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Order Fulfillment: Accurately pick, pack, and load materials onto company and customer vehicles.
• Yard Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free yard and warehouse environment, ensuring stock is clearly identifiable.
• Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels and proactively highlight low stock to management to ensure continuous product availability.
• Vehicle Care: Inspect, utilize, and maintain forklifts in strict accordance with company health and safety protocols.
• Customer Service: Assist trade and retail customers in the yard with a friendly, helpful, and dependable attitude.
• Security & Teamwork: Remain security-conscious to safeguard company property and collaborate effectively with team members to optimize daily operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Forklift Experience: Extensive, proven experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced environment (e.g., builders' merchants, construction yards, or heavy warehousing) is essential.
• Licences: Must hold a valid, up-to-date Forklift Licence.
• Certifications: A valid Manual Handling Certificate is highly desirable.
• Customer Service: Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Industry Knowledge: Prior experience or knowledge of building and plumbing materials is a distinct advantage, though not essential.
• Attributes: Reliable, safety-oriented, physically fit, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a busy team.
