Job summary

RT.Lane is seeking an experienced Architect/Architectural Technologist to lead fire safety and disabled access initiatives across multiple projects in Ireland. You will develop fire strategies, prepare regulatory certificates, and advise design teams on building standards.

The role requires 5+ years’ relevant experience, a degree in architecture or fire engineering, and strong English communication. Proficiency in REVIT/BIM is desirable, with opportunities to mentor graduates.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Architect/Architectural Technologist, 5+ years’ experience, with fire safety & disabled access certification background.
  • Postgraduate or bachelor’s degree in fire engineering preferable.
  • Strong understanding in fire safety engineering with career intent in this field.
  • Familiar with Part B & M, BS 9999, BS 5588 and related standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent English—written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of architectural design standards and building regulations.
  • Ability to interact with engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors.
  • Experience using REVIT and BIM desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fire strategies for projects using relevant codes (Part B & M, BS9999, BS5588) and NFPA standards.
  • Prepare and lodge Fire Safety Certificates and DAC via BCMS.
  • Provide FSC and DAC consultancy for design and contract teams on regulations.
  • Lead fire strategy discussions with design team, clients, building control, and fire service.
  • Ensure compliance with insurer requirements to reduce property damage and business interruption risk.
  • Support BCAR compliance and fire inspection reports during construction.
  • Supervise and train graduates on fire engineering principles.
  • Perform quality reviews of deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Assist in proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets.
  • Develop designer effort-hour estimates for Architectural/Permitting discipline.
  • Display strong communication skills and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Proactive Architect with experience across schematic design to construction.
  • Understand local permitting legislation and health and safety legislation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Developing fire strategies for a wide range of projects, using the relevant code recommendations such as TGD Part B & M, BS9999, BS 5588 as well as pertinent FM and NFPA standards.
  • Preparation and lodgement of Fire Safety Certificates and Disabled Access Certificate applications via the Building Control Management System (BCMS).
  • Provide internal FSC and DAC consultancy service for design and contract administration teams on building regulation matters.
  • Lead fire strategy discussions with design team, client representatives, building control and fire service.
  • Understand and Implementation of Insurer requirements with regards to reduction in property damage and business interruption risk.
  • Support BCAR Compliance and preparation of fire inspection reports during construction.
