Job description

This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations within AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery. As a trusted finance partner to the Power and Cooling Procurement and Supply Chain organization, you will provide the strategic financial insight that enables the team to deliver data centre capacity on time and on budget.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be embedded across procurement, supply chain, construction, engineering, program management, product management, business intelligence, and other finance teams — advising on decisions, shaping strategy, and translating operational and financial data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders. This is a hands‑on partnering role where you will move quickly from analysis to action, with a direct line of sight to business outcomes.

At Amazon, we believe that in‑person collaboration is essential to our culture and innovation. While we allow flexibility for personal circumstances, we generally expect employees to work from our offices five days a week. This approach has consistently shown that spontaneous interactions, rapid problem‑solving, and the energy of in‑person teamwork lead to better results for our customers. In particular, our data shows that teams working together in person are more effective at making complex decisions, onboarding new team members, and fostering the kind of creative collaboration that has driven Amazon's success. The serendipitous hallway conversations and impromptu white‑boarding sessions that happen naturally in an office environment have proven invaluable to our invention process and maintaining our high bar for excellence.

Key job responsibilities
  • Establish annual/monthly performance targets, analyze variances to plan, and communicate key messages to senior leadership.
  • Become subject matter expert for data center electrical and mechanical equipment including cost drivers, supplier strategy, and end‑to‑end processes and procedures.
  • Pinpoint defects or waste in processes, and drive new processes and automation to eliminate the defects and prevent them from recurring.
  • Identify and lead cost savings initiatives.
  • Partner with business to create and execute sourcing and supply management strategies.
  • Lead cross‑team and cross‑functional projects including setting milestones and ensuring timelines are met as planned.
  • Participate in supplier contract drafting, proactively identifying and removing business and controllership risk.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results, or experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).
  • Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses, or experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making.
  • Experience using complex modeling and analysis to inform key business decisions.
  • Experience in commercial finance business partnering or FP&A (at multinational organization).
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, or CPA.
  • Knowledge of Tableau.
  • Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
