Job summary

Acuity, based in Cork, Ireland, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Digital Center of Excellence (DCoE) and an engineering team building and operating the Azure and Databricks foundation used by data engineering, analytics, and AI teams. The role combines people leadership, technical direction, delivery accountability, and operational ownership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software/ cloud platform engineering or related roles with leadership experience.
• Proven track record building and coaching high performing engineering teams.
• Experience delivering complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
• Hands-on background with Databricks and Azure Data Lake / cloud platforms.
• Strong practices in Git, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, testing, observability, security, and cost management.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers with clear performance expectations.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones, support career progression, and grow individual capabilities.
• Foster an inclusive, accountable culture with risk awareness and learning from incidents.
• Own workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and capability development for the team.
• Own delivery outcomes: planning, prioritization, risk management, and status reporting.
• Set engineering direction for Databricks and Azure Data Lake platform capabilities.
• Ensure secure identity, secrets, networking, and platform governance patterns.
• Drive IaC, automated environment configuration, and automated provisioning.
• Maintain platform reliability with observability, incident response, and cost management.
• Balance near-term delivery with long-term platform sustainability and standardization.
