Job summary

Acuity Inc. in Cork, Ireland is seeking a Senior Data Architect to define scalable, governed data solutions across Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and the enterprise lakehouse.

This hands-on role translates business needs into practical data architectures and roadmaps, partnering with data engineering, platform, analytics, and business teams. The successful candidate will lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and drive guardrails while ensuring solutions are secure, maintainable, and aligned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in data architecture/engineering for enterprise data platforms.
• Strong experience with Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake, lakehouse.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT, data modeling, batch/streaming, data quality.
• Experience designing data platforms for enterprise reporting and self-service.
• Familiarity with Agile, Git, CI/CD, DevOps, Azure DevOps.
• Experience in SAFe delivery models.
• Excellent communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define target-state architectures for Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and enterprise lakehouse capabilities.
• Create reference architectures and standards for data ingestion, ETL/ELT, modelling, integration, security, governance, and consumption.
• Translate business capabilities and non-functional requirements into logical and physical data architecture decisions.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, document decisions, and maintain a prioritized architecture roadmap.
• AI Fluency & Emerging Technologies: evaluate and incorporate AI/ML pipelines and LLM integrations into core system architectures.
• Provide hands-on technical direction, prototypes, and design support throughout Agile delivery.
• Guide engineering teams on scalability, reliability, performance, cost optimization, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and promote practical architecture guardrails.
