Job summary

Next Generation Recruitment is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead on-site engineering, coordinate with the line manager and set strategy for engineering control and QA across projects.

You will drive temporary works coordination and lifting operations, manage NCRs, issue permits, review method statements and risk assessments, and oversee RFI processes while maintaining alignment with project specifications and tolerances. Strong communication and civil engineering expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• Significant experience in design management process.
• Broad technical exposure across piling, geotechnical and substructures (incl. waterproofing).
• Temporary Works Co-ordinator training and lifting operations awareness (A61 CPCS, Appointed Persons).
• Scaffold awareness/inspection and planning software experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in MS Office and digital systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead dimensional control on site and align rotating grids to local format.
• Oversee management of survey equipment and as-built surveys for key elements.
• Review and create Inspection & Test Plans for key packages (concrete, drainage, steelwork, brickwork).
• Control the Non-Conformance procedure and close NCRs promptly.
• Issue Permits to Break Ground and manage underground services risk.
• Review and create method statements and risk assessments.
• Manage the project RFI process and resolve missing information.
• Maintain knowledge of project specifications and structural tolerances.

Job description

The Senior Engineer manages the engineering function as the senior representative onsite, co-ordinating with the line manager and providing engineering leadership across the project(s). The role sets the strategy for engineering setting-out and onsite control, and is the primary point of reference for QA, record keeping and production, ensuring quality procedures are maintained. The role also carries responsibility for Temporary Works co-ordination and, where required, the active management of lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead dimensional control on site, including rotating global grids into local grid format
• Oversee the management of survey equipment and as-built surveys for key elements
• Review and create Inspection & Test Plans across key packages (concrete, drainage, steelwork, brickwork)
• Control the Non-Conformance procedure, creating and closing out NCRs in a timely manner
• Issue "Permits to Break Ground" and manage underground services risk
• Review and create method statements and risk assessments
• Manage the project RFI process, identifying and resolving missing information
• Maintain a good working knowledge of project specifications and structural tolerances

What You'll Need

• Eng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
