Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for storage drivers, filesystems, and tools across a broad SoC storage stack, focusing on flash technologies. The role is based in Cork, Ireland, onsite, with scope to contribute to Linux kernel components and upstream community.

You will develop and maintain storage drivers, work on kernel internals, optimise memory and power, and debug issues reported by customers and vendors.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of embedded software experience.
• Deep expertise in Linux kernel programming and device drivers.
• Experience with Linux filesystem modules (F2FS, EXT4, EROFS) is advantageous.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Storage / Linux Kernel / Device Drivers

We are partnered with a global leader in semiconductor and wireless technology innovation. The team is looking to hire a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop storage drivers, filesystems, and tools across a broad SoC storage stack supporting advanced flash technologies.

This is a permanent, fully onsite opportunity based in Cork, Ireland.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Embedded Software Engineer position:

• Develop and maintain storage drivers and proprietary filesystem modules for modem processors and Linux-based SoCs.
• Work on Linux kernel components including storage drivers, filesystem modules, block drivers, and memory subsystems.
• Optimise storage and memory performance for runtime efficiency and power consumption.
• Debug and resolve kernel-level issues reported by customers and flash vendor partners.
• Contribute to upstream Linux kernel community on new storage and memory features.
• Support expansion into automotive, home entertainment, and embedded computing markets.

Key requirements:

• 4+ years of embedded software experience.
• Deep expertise in Linux kernel programming, device driver development, and kernel internals.
• Experience with Linux filesystem modules (F2FS, EXT4, EROFS) advantageous.
• Strong kernel and user-space debugging skills including JTAG/ICE debuggers.
• Familiarity with ARM architecture and real-time/embedded programming concepts.
