Job summary

Becton Dickinson in Ireland is seeking a Facilities Technician to support day-to-day operations of site facilities, utilities and building systems. The role is hands-on and focuses on inspections, maintenance tasks, and safe problem-solving with contractors and internal teams.

You will maintain CMMS records, assist with calibrations and qualifications, and help ensure compliance with health, safety and GMP requirements while contributing to site improvements and reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or building systems.
• 1–2 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or similar role.
• Trade qualification or technical background is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day visual checks across the site.
• Assist with the contractor’s upkeep of heating, ventilation, fire systems, and building fabric.
• Help identify and fix faults, carry out repairs or escalate.
• Support general facilities maintenance and minor repairs across the site.
• Work with external suppliers and contractors to ensure planned maintenance and calibration activities are completed on time.
• Support safe working practices by ensuring contractors follow site health & safety and GMP requirements.
• Participate in site improvement projects with engineers and technicians.
• Provide support during facility and manufacturing area checks, qualifications, and validations as required.
• Assist with managing site access badges, including issuing replacements and supporting day‑to‑day access needs.
• Assist with maintaining maintenance records and equipment information within the CMMS system.
• Help keep preventative maintenance and calibration schedules up to date when new equipment is installed or existing equipment is changed.

About the role

As a Facilities Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance of site facilities, utilities, and building systems. You will carry out routine inspections and visual checks, assist with preventative maintenance activities, and help troubleshoot and resolve issues across electrical, mechanical, and general building services. Working closely with contractors and external suppliers, you will support the upkeep of heating, ventilation, fire systems, and building infrastructure while ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with site standards. This is a hands-on role that offers the opportunity to contribute to site improvement projects and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams. You will help maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS system, support equipment calibration and qualification activities, and ensure preventative maintenance schedules remain up to date. In addition, you will assist with contractor management, site access administration, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and GMP requirements, helping to ensure a safe and well-maintained working environment.

About you

You have a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or building systems and are eager to develop your technical knowledge. You hold a trade qualification or have a technical background, which would be a strong advantage. You have 1–2 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, technical support, or a similar hands-on environment. You are comfortable assisting with fault finding, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance activities. You have an interest in building services such as HVAC, lighting, fire systems, plumbing, or general facility operations. You are a practical problem solver who can identify issues and take a proactive approach to resolving them. You communicate effectively and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team. You possess good computer skills and can accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and checklists. You can prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and know when to escalate issues or seek support. You are flexible and comfortable working in a variety of environments, including warehouses, cleanrooms, plant areas, and outdoor locations, while following safety procedures and using appropriate PPE.
