Responsibilities

• End-to-End Financial Control: own project budget, profit plans and final accounts.
• Valuations & applications: prepare monthly payments, remeasurements, variations and dayworks.
• Subcontractor management: oversee interim valuations, variations, retentions and final accounts.
• Risk & claims management: identify risks, prepare detailed claims and protect margins.
• Commercial strategy & reporting: align progress with cost forecasts and report to senior leadership.

The Opportunity:

Are you a commercially astute Electrical Quantity Surveyor looking to take full financial ownership of a high-value, complex build?

We are currently recruiting a Senior Electrical QS to manage the full commercial lifecycle of a major pharmaceutical construction project in Galway.

Working hand-in-hand with the Project Manager, Planning Engineer, and delivery teams, you will play a pivotal role in protecting project margins, managing commercial risk, and driving financial performance from tender right through to final account in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• End-to-End Financial Control: Take full commercial ownership of the project budget, profit plans, and final accounts.
• Valuations & Applications: Prepare and process monthly applications for payment, remeasurements, variations, and dayworks.
• Subcontractor Management: Oversee supply chain accounts, including interim valuations, variations, retentions, and final account agreements.
• Risk & Claims Management: Identify early commercial risks, prepare detailed claims (including material/labour escalations), and protect project margins.
• Commercial Strategy & Reporting: Collaborate with the Planning Engineer to align program progress with cost forecasts, presenting accurate financial performance reports to senior leadership.

What You’ll Bring:

• Experience: Proven track record as an Electrical QS within large-scale MEP, high-tech, or engineering construction projects.
• Sector Knowledge: Experience within Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, or cleanroom/regulated environments is highly advantageous.
• Contractual Mastery: Strong background in construction contracts, change management, variations, and dispute resolution/negotiation.
• Financial Precision: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and specialist commercial software, with high attention to detail under tight deadlines.
• Stakeholder Management: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to deal independently with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
