Job summary

Mercury in Dublin is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead end-to-end tender estimates from drawings or BIM models. You will engage with local supply chain for sub-contractor quotes and produce a fully priced bid for presentation to the Electrical Estimation Manager.

The role requires 5+ years of estimating experience, excellent numeracy, and strong attention to detail. Occasional travel to client meetings is expected as part of the package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly numerate.
• Understand methods of measurement and cost/valuation reconciliations.
• Computer literacy in relevant estimating packages.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead the bid: take ownership of the project and complete the estimate from start to finish.
• Scope identification: identify required tender scope from documentation.
• Analyse drawings and specifications to quantify work for the BOQ/Estimate.
• Prepare finalised documentation for future reference.
• Quantification of work and liaison with design team.
• Obtain quotations from local market vendors or subcontractors.
• Analyse quotations for scope gaps and variances.
• Conduct mid-bid meetings with supply chain.
• Perform subcontractor package tender analysis and compare with budget.
• Coordinate with construction team for cost reflection and lessons learned.
• Forecast lead-in times from supply chain.
• Manage tender changes and apply updated rates.
• Support value engineering with cost details.
• Demonstrate time management to meet deadlines.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Travel for day trips or overnight meetings as required.
