Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is sourcing a Senior EHS Engineer for a global pharmaceutical client in Sligo. The role focuses on shaping site safety across engineering projects, construction works and upgrades, ensuring hazards are identified early and risks controlled.

You will investigate incidents, assess process safety, and collaborate with engineers and contractors to implement practical safety solutions on major projects and site work.

Formación

• 8 years’ experience in EHS, ideally in engineering projects, construction or site upgrades.
• A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and process diagrams.
• Experience in process safety and risk assessments.
• Strong EHS experience supporting major projects, plant upgrades, shutdowns and contractors.
• Experience managing high-risk work, including permits, equipment isolation, confined spaces, lifting and hot work.
• Confidence working with engineers and contractors to challenge safety measures and reduce risks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience investigating incidents, equipment failures and identifying root causes.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain risks and influence decisions.

Responsabilidades

• Making projects safer from the start: identify hazards in designs, equipment layouts and process systems before work begins.
• Carrying out risk assessments, contributing to safety reviews and preventing incidents.
• Partner with project managers and contractors to ensure construction, upgrades and commissioning are carried out safely.
• Help ensure safety measures for activities like equipment isolation, opening pipes, maintenance and permit-controlled work.
• Investigate incidents, technical issues and safety concerns, identify root causes and recommend improvements.
• Use technical expertise to challenge unsafe practices and guide decisions that work in practice.
