Senior Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior EDW Architect to lead the design, optimisation, and governance of enterprise data warehouse solutions for a leading financial services organisation. This role requires deep technical expertise in large-scale data warehousing combined with a strong understanding of regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements specific to banking and financial services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve enterprise data warehouse architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business and regulatory requirements
• Lead Teradata platform architecture, including data modelling, workload management, and performance tuning
• Define and enforce data architecture standards, governance frameworks, and best practices across the EDW estate
• Partner with business stakeholders, data engineering, and risk/compliance teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Oversee data integration strategies across legacy and modern platforms (ETL/ELT pipelines, batch and near real-time processing)
• Provide technical leadership on data warehouse modernisation and migration initiatives (e.g. cloud/hybrid architectures)
• Ensure solutions meet financial services regulatory obligations (data lineage, auditability, data quality, security)
• Mentor junior architects and engineers, and act as a technical authority in architecture review boards

Required Experience

• 8+ years in data architecture/engineering
• Proven hands-on expertise with Teradata (data modelling, performance tuning, workload management)
• Strong background in financial services, banking, insurance, or capital markets preferred
• Deep understanding of dimensional modelling, data warehousing methodologies (Kimball/Inmon), and enterprise data architecture principles
• Experience with regulatory/compliance-driven data environments (e.g. BCBS 239, GDPR, risk reporting)
• Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or similar) and migration from legacy Teradata environments is a strong plus
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging both technical and business audiences
• Experience with SQL, ETL tools (e.g. Informatica, DataStage, Talend)
• Exposure to cloud data platforms and hybrid architecture design
• Financial services domain certifications or relevant industry experience (risk, treasury, regulatory reporting)
