Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Lead Ecologist to guide a growing environmental services team in Ireland. You will shape ecological strategies for major infrastructure and development projects and mentor junior ecologists throughout the project lifecycle.

You will own high‑quality assessments, lead client relationships, and contribute to tender bids while representing the firm at stakeholder meetings and hearings, driving biodiversity outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Irish ecological legislation, planning processes and relevant European environmental directives and case law.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex ecological assessments across a range of infrastructure and development projects.
• Experience participating in oral hearings.
• Full Membership of CIEEM.
• Chartered Ecologist.
• Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects while leading multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of ecologists across Ireland, delivering high‑quality ecological services.
• Lead on ecological assessments and technical reports (EcIA, PEA, NIS, EIAR chapters) across projects.
• Support project scoping, tender submissions and fee proposals; represent Stantec at stakeholder meetings and hearings.
• Drive biodiversity, sustainability, and technical excellence in the project lifecycle from planning to operation.
