Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Lead Ecologist to join our Environmental Services team in Ireland. You will lead a talented ecology group on major infrastructure and development projects, shaping ecological strategy and delivering high-quality assessments from planning through construction.

The role combines technical excellence with people leadership, mentoring ecologists, managing multiple projects, and contributing to tender submissions and client relations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Irish ecological legislation and European directives.
• Experience delivering complex ecological assessments for infrastructure projects.
• Experience participating in oral hearings.
• Full Membership of CIEEM and Chartered Ecologist status.
• Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while leading multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of ecologists across projects in Ireland.
• Deliver high-quality ecological assessments and reports (EcIA, PEA, NIS, EIAR chapters).
• Support project scoping, tender submissions and fee proposals.
• Represent Stantec at stakeholder meetings and oral hearings when required.
• Mentor colleagues and strengthen client relationships to grow ecology capability.
