Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team and focus on scale, performance, and resilience for our Serverless offering. You will tackle deep distributed systems challenges across nodes in an Elasticsearch cluster.

You should have a strong background in distributed systems and Java, with a track record of delivering systems that run across many machines. This role offers a flexible location and strong compensation.

Qualifications

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and standard data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Deep technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Ability to work on complex, highly distributed systems rather than off-the-shelf solutions.
• Ability to build and debug features with broad impact across machines.
• Experience collaborating across functions and driving ownership from design to delivery.

Responsabilités

• Build and operate core pieces of our Serverless Elasticsearch offering, impacting customers globally.
• Improve components supporting concurrent and consistent indexing across machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination to keep performance with node churn while ensuring safety and liveness.
• Push the limits on shards, nodes, and petabytes that Elasticsearch can handle.
• Investigate performance and concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support our engineers with the harder problems and own end-to-end investigations.
