Job summary

Demonware, a part of Activision Blizzard, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Database team in Dublin, Ireland. This onsite role focuses on building and evolving our database tooling to support thousands of nodes and self-service deployments using Redis, Kubernetes and Vitess.

You will work with multiple internal teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and high-performance services for our games.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in a critical production service environment.
• Proficient with Python and multiple languages.
• Experience designing and building tooling for use by other engineers and APIs/tools.
• Experience with MySQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Excellent communication within and across teams.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP, HTTP, TLS).
• Ability to analyze requirements and make design decisions.
• Investigative mindset and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills; collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and evolve the database tooling platform and self-serve model, including cloud integration.
• Liaise with teams running database technology to meet their requirements.
• Drive software and tooling architecture toward high reliability for players and internal customers.
• Ensure all components are scalable and maintainable.
• Own features, components and tooling; review designs and code from teammates.
• Provide support to customer-facing teams deploying new features and offer consultancy.
• Partner with engineers to solve problems and improve customer experience.
• Mentor on best practices for database tooling development and integration.
