Job summary

Mercury, a leading construction solutions provider, is seeking a Senior Data Technician in Dublin, Ireland. The role involves installing and testing copper and fibre cabling, reading technical drawings, and supporting network upgrades on major projects.

The ideal candidate will lead a small team, have MEWP height safety certification, and strong communication skills to coordinate with the Project Manager and other trades on site.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience testing fibre using ODTR/OLTS equipment.
• Experience reading construction drawings / rack elevations / schematics / cable schedules.
• Previous experience leading a small team.
• MEWP working at height / manual handling certification.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite / Windows / MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate Cat5e to Cat7 copper cabling.
• Install, terminate and patch fibre optic cabling.
• Capable of testing copper cabling installation.
• Capable of testing fibre cabling installation.
• Troubleshoot cabling faults.
• Produce test results and handover documentation.
• Understand cabling drawings and schematics.
• Rack and stack IT and telecoms equipment.
• Patch and manage network connections.
• Support network upgrades and migrations.
• Install containment systems (cable tray / trunking).
• Read project specifications and document accordingly.
• Label and document installation to project specs.
• Provide daily and weekly progress reports.
• Follow Health and Safety procedures.
• Communicate with Project Manager / supervisor and other trades on site.
• Support commissioning teams and project handover.
• Problem solving under pressure.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role
