Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Mechanical Fitter for Leixlip, Co. Kildare to work on pipe fitting, bending and commissioning of plumbing and mechanical services within our projects. You will contribute to the safe, efficient delivery of complex construction tasks for diverse sectors.

The role requires a National Craft Certificate, Safe Pass, and manual handling, with an emphasis on reading drawings and following specifications, while maintaining high standards of safety and teamwork on site.

Qualifications

• National Craft Certificate, Safe Pass and Manual Handling are required.
• Experience with pipe fitting, brazing or welding is advantageous.
• Ability to read drawings and follow specifications.

Responsibilities

• Pipe bending, joining and fitting with inspection and fault diagnosis.
• Pre-commissioning of plumbing and mechanical services and air handling units.
• Reading drawings and specifications; basic electrical knowledge for central heating and HVAC.
• Safety and tool handling; scaffolding and rigging as required.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role

• Pipe bending, pipe joining, pipe fitting, inspection and testing, fault diagnosis. Identification of materials, rothernberger brazing, installing and maintaining; fuel storage and distribution systems, fire control systems, natural and LPG systems, cold water storage tanks, heating systems, sanitation systems, cold and mains water services, watermains, hot water cylinders and calorifiers, hot water services flues and verification, compressed air systems, steam pipework
• Pre-commissiong of plumbing and mechanical services, pre-commissioning of air handling units
• Knowledge of industrial and process gases and liquids, medical gases, electrical controls for central heating and air conditioning systems, hot and cold-water services, plumbing systems, solid fuel and oil fired boiler/ burner units pumps, air conditioning systems, roof work
• Reading drawings and specifications, planning, basic electricity, bracket fabrication, oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, bronze welding, soldering, manual metal arc welding, tungsten inert gas welding, setting out, measuring, transferring levels, use and care of tools, safety, scaffolding, rigging
