Job summary

Abbott Sligo is expanding its Digital, Data & AI team and seeking a Senior Data Scientist/Engineer to lead advanced analytics initiatives at Abbott Diabetes Care. You will work at the intersection of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, data and AI to drive measurable business value.

You will partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, design scalable analytics, develop ML models, and help establish SOPs and end-to-end data processes that support Abbott's Data, AI & Analytics

Responsibilities

• Analytics & AI Strategy – identify, prioritise, and deliver analytics initiatives.
• Data Science & Advanced Analytics – design, develop, deploy ML models and analytics solutions.

Purpose of the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist , you will lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven solutions that deliver measurable business value across Abbott Diabetes Care.

Working at the intersection of business, technology, and data, you will partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and drive data-informed decision making. You will play a key role in shaping advanced analytics strategies while delivering innovative solutions that improve operational performance and business outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to shape and build foundational data capabilities from the ground up. The successful candidate will establish and embed standard work, create and maintain SOPs, and develop scalable end-to-end processes that support consistent, high-quality data management across the organisation. Through these efforts, you will play a key role in enabling Abbott's Data, AI & Analytics strategy, driving the adoption of advanced analytics, AI, self-service reporting, and business intelligence solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analytics & AI Strategy

• Support development of Abbott ADC AI and advanced analytics roadmap.
• Data Science & Advanced Analytics
• Design, develop, deploy, and optimise machine learning models, predictive algorithms and advanced analytical solutions.
• Apply statistical techniques, forecasting, optimisation, simulation, and machine learning methods to solve complex business problems.
• Develop scalable analytical approaches using structured and unstructured data.
• Validate analytical models to ensure accuracy, robustness, explainability, and business relevance.
• Support industrialisation and operationalisation of analytical solutions in partnership with Data Engineering teams.
