Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Data Protection - Data Discovery & Remediation Senior Lead to drive control compliance across cloud and on-premise environments. The role requires deep expertise in information security, data protection, and cloud platforms to reduce risk and safeguard critical data.

You will influence multiple stakeholders, lead risk assessments, and implement detective controls while maintaining awareness of evolving regulatory and corporate standards.

Qualifications

• Experience across security architectures and technology risk.
• Roles in security risk consulting, IT security risk management or security analysis beneficial.
• Cloud tech experience in hybrid environments with security from design (SSDLC).
• Ability to perform architecture reviews and assess application/infrastructure risk using threat modelling (STRIDE).
• Experience building detective controls using patterns like regexes.

Responsibilities

• Guide and educate on technology risk and controls to ensure compliance.
• Develop and administer detective controls meeting scalability and data integrity requirements.
• Deliver security solutions for data protection engineering and architecture teams.
• Lead risk reviews with application teams and stakeholders to define risk treatment.
• Act as a subject matter expert for cloud application security (Azure & AWS).
• Maintain specialist knowledge of security processes and frameworks.
• Represent information security to stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
