Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure cloud solutions. You will shape cloud strategy, mentor teams, and collaborate with engineering, security, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end cloud initiatives.

The role requires 10+ years in IT with 5+ years in cloud architecture, deep cloud platform expertise, and strong leadership to drive transformation in a regulated financial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of IT experience with at least 5 years in cloud architecture roles.
• Deep expertise in one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, networking, DevOps, and automation.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud transformation initiatives.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design cloud-native and hybrid architectures that meet security and compliance requirements.
• Define and evolve the enterprise cloud strategy, standards, and best practices.
• Lead as a technical leader and advisor across teams for cloud adoption and modernization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Establish cloud governance, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
