Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and a robust data platform architecture in Ireland. You will collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and optimised for analytics and reporting.

Key responsibilities include developing Azure Synapse pipelines, using Azure DevOps and Terraform for deployments, and designing data models for analytics.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/IT or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven Data Engineer experience.
• Advanced SQL for data querying and optimisation.
• Experience with Azure SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Understanding of Spark and PySpark.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory or comparable orchestration tools.
• Experience processing data from CSV, JSON, and structured datasets.
• Automation scripting with Python or PowerShell.
• Experience applying DevOps practices in data platforms.
• Understanding of data modelling principles and database administration.
• Knowledge of Power Platform.
• Knowledge of Logic Apps.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Attention to data quality and detail.
• Experience working independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Gather and document technical requirements and scope for delivery planning.
• Develop and maintain Azure Synapse data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Troubleshoot and deploy pipelines with Azure DevOps and Terraform.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on deployments.
• Design logical/physical data models for analytics.
• Apply data modelling and indexing for performance.
• Define schema design, partitioning and performance tuning approaches.
• Maintain platform performance, reliability and security.
• Implement data quality controls and monitoring.
• Ensure governance, security and GDPR compliance.
• Deliver knowledge-sharing sessions on platform capabilities.
• Stay current with Microsoft data technologies (Fabric, migrations).
