Job summary

AIR Sligo seeks a dynamic Controls Engineer to join our automation team. You will design, develop, and implement advanced control systems for bespoke equipment, collaborating with a skilled engineering group on challenging projects for a global client base.

The role requires a degree in engineering, a minimum of five years' experience creating machine control systems, and hands-on experience with AB ControlLogix, Siemens S7, and vision systems such as Cognex/Keyence. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Degree in engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience creating machine control systems.
Experience programming AB ControlLogix and Siemens S7.
Experience configuring, commissioning, and debugging machine networks and drive systems.
Experience with machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
Strong communication skills and ability to own milestones.

Responsibilities

Develop concepts and specifications for equipment from User Requirement Specifications.
Develop and debug machine control programs including PLC/HMI/Robotics/Motion Control/Vision.
Research, develop, and implement new control technologies.
Coordinate and manage controls elements of build and debug of equipment.
Ensure controls aspects of projects meet schedule and budget.
Liaise with customers on requirements and deliverables.
Develop relationships with suppliers for equipment/component procurement.
Design, commission, and ensure safety of controls systems.
Provide guidance to junior staff to realise designs and customer goals.
Develop machine documentation to meet EU standards.
Meet project deliverables and deadlines.
