Job summary

AIR Sligo is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop and implement advanced control systems for bespoke automation equipment. You will join a skilled team delivering innovative automation solutions for a global client base.

The role targets someone with a degree in engineering and at least five years of experience in machine control, with expertise in AB ControlLogix, Siemens S7, robotics and vision systems. A strong communicator and proactive contributor is essential.

Qualifications

Degree in engineering or equivalent.
Min 5 years' experience building machine control systems.
Proficient in AB ControlLogix and Siemens S7 programming.
Experience with networking, drives, and automation hardware.
Robotics experience with ABB, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Epson.
Experience in machine vision systems such as Cognex/Keyence.
Excellent communication and ownership, attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Develop concepts and specifications from User Requirement Specifications.
Develop and debug machine control programs including PLC/HMI/Robotics/Motion Control/Vision.
Research, develop, and implement new control technologies.
Coordinate and manage controls elements of build and debug of equipment.
Ensure controls aspects meet schedule and budget.
Liaise with customers on requirements and deliverables.
Develop supplier relationships for procurement.
Design, commissioning, and safety of controls systems.
Guide junior staff to realise designs and milestones.
Create machine documentation to meet EU standards.
