Job summary

NetApp's Azure NetApp Files team builds cloud-scale storage services that power mission-critical workloads in Microsoft Azure. We seek a highly motivated software engineer to develop and operate distributed systems spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, and user experience.

This unified role covers development, validation, operations, and service reliability, with ownership from design through production.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience.
• Strong production software development experience in Go, building scalable, secure backend services.
• Experience with Python for test automation, validation frameworks, tooling, CI/CD integration, or operational automation.
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, C# for engineers to work across service components.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and service-to-service integrations.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating microservices-based applications using Kubernetes, containers, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience with software quality practices including automated testing, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, telemetry, and operational excellence practices.
• Experience building and operating cloud-native distributed systems in Azure.
• Experience in cloud storage, distributed systems, or infrastructure services.
• Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative and analytical approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Own features through the entire software lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Design, develop, and operate cloud-native services leveraging containers, microservices, distributed systems principles, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Drive engineering excellence through automated testing, code reviews, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and customer-facing experiences.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to drive technical excellence and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term reliability improvements.
• Work with product management, architects, and partner teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor team members and share knowledge through reviews and discussions.
• Communicate technical concepts and project status to stakeholders across the organization.
• Contribute to the technical growth of the team through knowledge sharing.
