Job summary

CBT Solutions, based at Oakwood Medical in Clonsilla, Dublin, seeks a Senior Clinical Psychologist to lead autism and developmental assessments within the AON service. The role blends clinic work with community travel and requires expert assessment, differential diagnosis, and the ability to work independently in a neuro‑affirmative, family‑centred approach.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology.
• Accreditation with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
• Full, valid driving licence and access to a car.
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant postgraduate clinical experience.
• Demonstrated experience conducting autism assessments using recognised tools and protocols.
• Demonstrated experience administering and interpreting cognitive assessments.
• Working knowledge of the Assessment of Need (AON) process under the Disability Act 2005.
• Experience of clinical supervision, either as a supervisee or supervisor.
• Experience integrating SLT and OT assessment findings into autism assessments.
• Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities, Children First requirements, risk assessment and escalation procedures.
• Commitment to strength-based, neuro-affirmative practice and non-pathologising language in clinical work and report writing.
• Garda vetting and satisfactory reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive autism assessments across age ranges using tools including ADOS-2, ADI-R, 3Di and Vineland-3.
• Administer and interpret cognitive assessments (WISC-V, WAIS-IV, etc).
• Integrate SLT and OT findings into a coherent multidisciplinary formulation.
• Prepare AON reports that meet statutory timelines under the Disability Act 2005.
• Provide clear, sensitive feedback to children, young people and families.
• Travel independently to community and clinic locations across assigned CHO areas as required.
• Provide clinical supervision to colleagues and/or engage in regular clinical supervision.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with GDPR and data-protection requirements.
• Work in accordance with professional and ethical standards relating to informed consent and confidentiality.
• Liaise with referrers, families and other professionals as required.

CBT Solutions (trading name of Evidence Based Practice Clinic Limited) is a clinic based at Oakwood Medical, Clonsilla, Dublin. We deliver a combination of private ADHD and Autism assessments, working with local HSE childrens services as well as providing HSE-funded Assessment of Need (AON) autism assessments to children and families referred through Community Healthcare Organisation (CHO) areas.

Our multidisciplinary team completes statutory assessments under the Disability Act 2005, working to required timelines while maintaining an evidence-based, strength-based and neuro-affirmative approach to assessment, formulation and report writing.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Assessment of Need (AON) team.

This is a clinically demanding, community- and clinic-based role suited to a psychologist with strong assessment and differential diagnostic skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to neuro-affirmative, non-pathologising and family-centred practice.

The successful candidate will lead and complete comprehensive autism and developmental assessments, integrate findings from across disciplines into clear, statutory-compliant reports, and provide clinical and supervisory input within the team.

Key responsibilities:

• Complete comprehensive autism assessments across the age ranges referred to the service, using recognised tools including ADOS-2, ADI-R, 3Di and adaptive behaviour measures such as Vineland-3.


• Administer and interpret cognitive assessments, including WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, WAIS-IV and Stanford Binet, as required by age and referral question.


• Administer developmental assessments where required, including the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Griffiths III and Developmental Assessment of Young Children (DAYC-2).


• Integrate Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) findings into a coherent multidisciplinary formulation.


• Apply sound differential diagnostic reasoning across overlapping and co-occurring presentations.


• Prepare AON reports that meet statutory timelines under the Disability Act 2005, using clear, strength-based and non-pathologising language.


• Provide clear, sensitive and neuroaffirmative feedback to children, young people and families following assessment.


• Work within the HSE CHO referral pathway and MDT structure, liaising with referrers, families and other professionals as required.


• Provide clinical supervision to colleagues and/or engage in regular clinical supervision, contributing to the professional development of the team.


• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with GDPR and data-protection requirements.


• Work in accordance with professional and ethical standards relating to informed consent, child assent, confidentiality and information sharing.


• Travel independently to community and clinic locations across assigned CHO areas as required.

Essential Requirements:

• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology.


• Accreditation/membership with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).


• Full, valid driving licence and access to a car, as the role requires community- and clinic-based travel.


• Minimum of 3 years' relevant postgraduate clinical experience.


• Demonstrated experience conducting autism assessments using recognised tools and protocols.


• Demonstrated experience administering and interpreting cognitive assessments.


• Sound understanding of differential diagnosis across overlapping clinical presentations.


• Working knowledge of the Assessment of Need (AON) process under the Disability Act 2005, including statutory timelines, MDT structure and the HSE CHO referral pathway.


• Experience of clinical supervision, either as a supervisee or supervisor.


• Experience integrating SLT and OT assessment findings into autism assessments.


• Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities, Children First requirements, risk assessment and appropriate escalation procedures.


• Commitment to strength-based, neuro-affirmative practice and non-pathologising language in clinical work and report writing.


• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload against statutory deadlines.


• The post is subject to Garda vetting and satisfactory reference checks.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience administering developmental assessment tools such as the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Griffiths III Developmental Assessment or Developmental Assessment of Young Children (DAYC-2).


• Formal training in clinical supervision.

What We Offer

Salary starting at €105,000, with an expectation of a set number of assessments per month.

Full-time and part-time working arrangements will be considered.

Working pattern, days and hours will be agreed with the successful candidate.

34 days' annual leave.
