Job summary

eir business talent is seeking a Senior Client-Side Design Manager for our client based in Athlone, Ireland. This contract role focuses on leading design activities for a major pharma capital project, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring GMP compliance and alignment with business objectives.

You will manage client-side design activities from concept through to handover, oversee procurement interfaces, and drive schedule, budget, and governance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years’ experience in design of pharma or life science projects.
• Degree qualification in Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead client-side management of the design phase for a major OSD facility capital project.
• Coordinate architectural, process, mechanical, electrical, automation, civil and clean utility design activities.
• Manage external engineering consultants, EPCM partners and specialist vendors.
• Lead procurement and tendering with EPCM partner and internal teams to award contracts.
• Ensure project scope aligns with business case, manufacturing strategy and ops needs.
• Maintain design schedule and ensure milestone delivery.
• Align design with capital budget and manage costs in design phase.
• Monitor design progress against scope, budget and timeline.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Manage design change control processes and scope deviations.
• Drive integrated design reviews and technical decision-making.
• Establish project governance, reporting and design controls.
• Monitor procurement schedules and critical path tender activities.
• Coordinate interfaces between design, construction, CQV and operations.
• Facilitate design workshops with internal teams, vendors and EPCM partner.
• Align stakeholders on priorities and change impacts.
• Ensure integration between process equipment and facility infrastructure.
