Job summary

ESB in Ireland seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage cost, contract and commercial risk across civil infrastructure projects in the power sector, liaising with ESB partners and contractors. The role sits in the Commercial Team and focuses on delivering high standards and strong stakeholder management.

The successful candidate will lead cost control, tender preparation, procurement liaison, and post-contract commercial activities while mentoring junior staff and promoting safety and quality

Qualifications

• Level 8 Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification QS experience.
• Proven track record delivering high-quality work to professional standards.
• Flexible approach to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Full driving licence and access to a car.
• MRICS/MSCSI qualification and Building Control Act registration desirable.
• Experience with Buildsoft and Cubit advantageous.
• Civil/Utility projects experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Cost management throughout all phases of a project.
• Preparation of Order of Magnitude Costs.
• Preparation of tender documentation including bills of quantities and pricing schedules.
• Liaison with procurement function.
• Tender assessment, evaluation and negotiation.
• Post Contract Commercial Management duties including monitoring and tracking project progress.
• Measurement and valuation of variations in the work during the contract.
• Report writing and interpretation.
• Promoting the safety management culture across all activities.
• Ensure Quality Procedures are implemented on all projects.
• Mentor and develop junior staff.
