Job summary

Cpl Group is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer for a contract role in North Dublin. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs, collaborating with architects and cross-functional teams on a digital transformation programme.

Lead backend architecture, performance, and security, while delivering robust solutions across a large-scale digital ecosystem used by thousands of customers daily.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Back-End Development within enterprise or complex technology environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Strong database experience including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Knowledge of caching solutions such as Redis.
• Experience working with cloud technologies, ideally Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and code quality standards.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments using Jira or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and microservices using Node.js.
• Build and manage secure, scalable APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) for web and mobile applications.
• Integrate solutions with third-party platforms, legacy systems, and internal services.
• Design and optimise database structures across SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
• Ensure backend services meet security, performance, and reliability standards.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to align solutions with cloud, security, and governance frameworks.
• Provide technical input during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and estimation sessions.
• Support programme delivery by managing technical dependencies and providing visibility on development progress.
