Job summary

Verve is seeking an experienced senior backend engineer to design, implement, and optimize high-throughput ad exchange components in a distributed cloud environment. You will own end-to-end system design, code quality, and production readiness while mentoring a growing Dublin-based team.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of backend experience, deep proficiency in Go or Java, and hands-on cloud, container, and CI/CD expertise.

What You Will Do

• Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of complex, high-throughput components for the core ad exchange platform.
• Write exceptionally optimized, highly concurrent code (Go or Java), taking ownership of system performance where every millisecond counts.
• Act as a technical pillar for the Dublin team: mentor mid-level/junior engineers, elevate code quality through PR reviews, and set engineering standards.
• Take end-to-end ownership of critical services-from initial system design and agentic-assisted coding workflows, through to CI/CD deployment and production monitoring.
• Partner closely with the Engineering Manager and product stakeholders to translate high-level business requirements into scalable, robust technical architecture.
• Drive operational excellence by proactively identifying bottlenecks, optimizing infrastructure footprint, and leading complex incident resolutions.

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong focus on distributed backend systems.
• Deep expertise in system-level or strongly typed languages (Go or Java), with advanced knowledge of concurrency, memory management, and performance profiling.
• Proven track record of architecting and scaling high-throughput, low-latency applications.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Cloud Computing platforms (GCP, AWS) and container orchestration at scale (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD), IaC (Terraform), and modern observability stacks (Grafana, ELK).
• Practical experience using and advocating for agentic-assisted development tools (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex) to increase team velocity.
• Bonus: Deep domain experience in Ad-Tech, FinTech, High-Frequency Trading, or other environments handling tens of thousands of requests per second.
