Job summary

Pepper Advantage is seeking a (Senior) Backend Engineer to join Project PRISM and help build a scalable platform for web and mobile access. You will contribute product and domain expertise, working with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.

The role emphasizes cloud-native design, API-driven development, and alignment with modern DevOps practices. It requires strong C#, Azure, and Angular integration experience.

Qualifications

• Experience building enterprise-grade applications in cloud environments.
• Strong C# experience with WebAPI/ASP.NET Core.
• Hands-on with API-based systems and integration.
• Familiarity with front-end integration using Angular.
• Experience with cloud-native Azure deployments and IaC (Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Understanding of design patterns, SOLID, and DDD principles.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry is desirable.

Job description

The (Senior) Backend engineer is a key new appointment to Project PRISM who will work with the dedicated team to build the platform for both web and mobile access.

(Senior) Backend engineer will be a can do, high achieving individual who will bring their product and domain expertise to the product, having experience of working with teams to build high quality enterprise level applications and have a passion for technology.

Location: Madrid (Spain), UK (London, Uxbridge, Skipton), Dublin (Ireland)

Main Responsibilities

• Development and maintenance of the new software platform.
• Design of a scalable and highly configurable cloud native solution targeting multiple geographic jurisdictions and asset types.
• Ensure all developments fit within the overall system architecture and design strategy, and make sure code is of a consistent and appropriate standard.
• Manage and maintain the company codebase using industry best practice to provide full audit and control capabilities.
• Work with all stakeholders to best prioritise system developments and deliver to agreed release schedules.
• Work closely with the test team to design and implement robust automatic testing in an agile fashion.
• Work as part of the Scrum team to analyse and estimate sprint items.
• Keep abreast with Testing best practices and new trends.
• Excellent C# skills (WebAPI, ASP.NET Core), SQL Server, Azure SQL and NoSQL (CosmosDB) skills.
• Experience on API based systems: definition, implementation, and management.
• Good understanding of front-end technologies, specifically Angular and the supporting framework tools.
• Experienced in cloud-native applications (preferably Azure) with good understanding of modular design and asynchronous communication.
• Familiarity with IaaS, PaaS and IaC technologies - Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible.
• Strong advocate of CI/CD principles familiar with the Azure DevOps stack.
• Competency in best practices and techniques - BDD, design patterns, SOLID principles, DDD.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry is desirable.
• Interest in Infrastructure Engineering is desirable.
