Morgan McKinley is seeking an OT Integration Engineer to join a technology-focused manufacturing environment in Limerick. You will design and implement OT integration solutions, configure OPC UA/MQTT, and support UNS architectures while aligning with ISA-95 and manufacturing data standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in industrial automation or OT integration.
• Experience integrating PLC-based manufacturing systems with higher‑level software platforms.
• Strong experience with PLC, SCADA and/or DCS.
• Experience with MES/MOM.
• Knowledge of ISA-95 and manufacturing data architectures.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and implementing OT integration solutions across manufacturing environments.
• Integrating PLC, SCADA and DCS systems with MES, ERP and enterprise platforms.
• Developing industrial data collection and contextualisation solutions.
• Configuring industrial communication protocols including OPC UA and MQTT.
• Supporting UNS architectures and data architecture strategies.
• Designing OT integration solutions aligned with ISA-95 principles.
• Developing SQL databases and data pipelines for manufacturing data.
• Collaborating with MES, LIMS and ERP platforms such as SAP.
• Delivering proofs-of-concept and technology demonstrators.
• Working with vendors to assess and implement emerging OT and manufacturing technologies.
• Delivering technical training, workshops and knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Contributing to Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and digital transformation initiatives.

This is a varied role sitting at the intersection of industrial automation, MES, OT/IT integration, manufacturing data and emerging digital technologies.

You will work on projects that connect manufacturing equipment and control systems with higher‑level software platforms, helping organisations unlock better use of their production data and implement modern digital manufacturing solutions.

The Role

As an OT Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing OT integration solutions across a range of manufacturing environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Integrating PLC, SCADA and DCS systems with MES, ERP and enterprise platforms
• Developing industrial data collection and contextualisation solutions
• Configuring industrial communication protocols including OPC UA and MQTT
• Supporting the development and implementation of Unified Namespace (UNS) architectures
• Designing OT integration solutions aligned with ISA-95 principles
• Developing SQL databases and supporting manufacturing data pipelines
• Supporting integration with MES, LIMS and ERP platforms such as SAP
• Developing proof‑of‑concept solutions and technology demonstrators
• Working with technology vendors to assess and implement emerging OT and manufacturing technologies
• Delivering technical training, workshops and knowledge‑transfer sessions
• Contributing to Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and digital transformation initiatives

About You

We are looking for an engineer with a strong technical background in industrial automation, OT integration or manufacturing systems.

You should have:

• 5+ years' experience in industrial automation, OT integration or manufacturing systems
• Experience integrating PLC‑based manufacturing systems with higher‑level software platforms
• Strong experience with PLC, SCADA and/or DCS
• Experience with MES/MOM
• Knowledge of industrial networking and communication standards
• Strong SQL and manufacturing database experience
• Understanding of manufacturing architectures and ISA-95
• Experience supporting digital manufacturing or Industry 4.0 projects
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to explain complex technical concepts and translate them into practical manufacturing solutions

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• Unified Namespace (UNS)
• Industry 4.0 / Smart Manufacturing
• AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Industrial cybersecurity
