Job summary

John Paul Construction is seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to take ownership of electrical safety, switching operations and permit-to-work actions across critical infrastructure projects.

The role requires proven SAP experience with HV distribution, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to guide operational teams while coordinating with multidisciplinary colleagues. This is a permanent Ireland-based opportunity with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Authorise safe access to electrical installations and substations.
• Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations where required.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to operational teams.
• Support planned maintenance, commissioning, and emergency response activities.

Due to continued expansion we require a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with a strong background in electrical safety and high-voltage systems. We're seeking a skilled professional to take ownership of electrical safety, switching operations, and permit-to-work activities across critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the designated Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for HV/LV electrical systems
• Manage and oversee electrical switching operations and system isolations
• Issue and control Permit-to-Work documentation
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules, procedures, and industry regulations
• Authorise safe access to electrical installations and substations
• Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations where required
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to operational teams
• Support planned maintenance, commissioning, and emergency response activities

Requirements

• Proven experience operating as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP). Strong knowledge of High Voltage (HV) electrical distribution systems. Experience managing permits, switching schedules, and safety procedures. Excellent understanding of electrical regulations and best practices. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
