Job summary

Waystone is seeking a Senior AML Associate to lead outsourced AML and CTF services for a global client base. You will conduct complex AML reviews, manage high-risk cases, and support junior team members while collaborating with AML Managers and stakeholders across the business.

Ideal candidates have AML/KYC expertise across multiple jurisdictions, with preference for Luxembourg funds experience, and a strong eye for process improvement within regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years' experience within AML, KYC, Financial Crime Compliance, Fund Administration, Banking or Financial Services.
  • Proven experience managing complex AML and due diligence reviews across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience working within regulated funds, asset management, corporate services or financial services environments.
  • Experience supporting Luxembourg-regulated entities, funds or corporate structures is strongly preferred.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and supporting quality assurance activities would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and complete AML reviews for a portfolio of clients across jurisdictions.
  • Conduct CDD, EDD, sanctions screening and adverse media checks.
  • Prepare AML documentation and client review packs for COE sign-off.

Role Overview

The Senior AML Associate plays a key role in the delivery of outsourced Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) services across Waystone's global client base. The role is responsible for conducting complex AML reviews, managing higher-risk and escalated cases, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and supporting the development of junior team members.

Working closely with AML Managers and stakeholders across the business, the Senior AML Associate will act as a subject matter expert, contribute to process enhancements, and help ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality AML services in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practice.

The successful candidate will have experience conducting AML/KYC reviews across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks, with particular preference given to candidates with Luxembourg AML and funds industry experience.

Client Reviews & AML Operations
  • Independently manage and complete AML reviews for a portfolio of clients, ensuring all regulatory and internal requirements are met.
  • Conduct customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, adverse media screening and independent research on Waystone clients globally.
  • Perform AML and CTF assessments in accordance with internal policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and review AML documentation and client review packs for submission and sign-off by the AML Centre of Excellence (COE).
  • Identify, assess and **escalate** complex or high-risk matters to AML Management where appropriate.
  • Act as a key point of contact for AML-related queries from internal stakeholders and client-facing teams.
  • Liaise with AML Managers and business stakeholders in a timely and professional manner to support the completion of client reviews.
Regulatory & Technical Expertise
  • Maintain a strong understanding of AML, CTF, sanctions and financial crime regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on AML requirements, regulatory developments and industry best practices.
  • Ensure AML records, systems and databases, including Fenergo, are maintained accurately and efficiently.
  • Review existing procedures and recommend enhancements to improve operational effectiveness, controls and client experience.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant AML regulations and emerging financial crime risks.
Oversight & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor workflow, deadlines and task completion to ensure service levels and client commitments are achieved.
  • Support quality assurance activities, including peer reviews and constructive feedback on AML assessments completed by colleagues.
  • Assist AML Managers in identifying trends, recurring issues and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Contribute to regulatory change initiatives, system enhancements and wider AML projects.
  • Maintain and update AML checklists, procedures and task tracking schedules.
Team Support & Leadership
  • Mentor, coach and support AML Associates, helping to develop technical knowledge and professional capability.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for complex AML and KYC matters within the team.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new joiners.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing culture focused on quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience
