Job summary

Tigera is seeking an experienced ML Engineer to own the machine learning and applied AI aspects of our Calico security platform. You will turn platform telemetry into detections, risk scores, and behavioral baselines, and shape product direction with model-driven decisions.

Based in Cork, Ireland, this hybrid role offers close collaboration with security and data teams, ownership of end-to-end ML systems, and opportunities to publish and influence product roadmaps while delivering real customer

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional ML engineering experience, with at least two years building and deploying production ML systems
• Strong fundamentals in classical machine learning - gradient-boosted trees, regression, classification, evaluation methodology, feature engineering, dealing with class imbalance and noisy labels
• Experience with anomaly detection or time-series modelling in adjacent domains (fraud detection, observability, recommendation systems, fault detection etc)
• Hands‑on experience using LLMs for applied tasks beyond chatbots - function calling, retrieval‑augmented generation, prompt engineering, fine‑tuning, evaluation
• Python and the standard ML ecosystem (scikit‑learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow, pandas)
• Comfort working with large‑scale telemetry data - ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, Spark, or equivalent
• Strong communication skills, including excellent writing skills

Responsibilities

• Own the ML and applied AI side of the product, turning telemetry into detections, risk scores, and behavioural baselines that decide whether an AI agent runs in a regulated enterprise
• End-to-end design of ML systems, from data ingestion to model deployment and monitoring
• Act as the AI/ML voice in architecture decisions - telemetry pipeline, features, roadmap, and model versioning
• Collaborate with security, data, and product teams to ship reliable ML-powered capabilities
