Job summary

Unum in Carlow, Ireland, seeks a Senior AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy enterprise-scale AI and ML solutions, including Generative AI and LLM-powered apps. Build cloud-native AI services on AWS, using Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, ECS/EKS, and S3, and lead robust MLOps/LLMOps pipelines.

You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers, mentor teammates, and ensure governance and responsible AI across initiatives to transform business capabilities. This role is on site in Carlow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, AI Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience delivering production AI and Machine Learning solutions in cloud environments.
• Strong Python development skills and experience with modern AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, LangChain, or similar technologies.
• Hands‑on experience building Generative AI solutions, including LLMs, RAG architectures, AI Agents, or vector search technologies.
• Experience designing and supporting MLOps/LLMOps pipelines, CI/CD automation, and model lifecycle management.
• Strong AWS experience, including services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, ECS/EKS, and S3.
• Experience with modern software engineering practices, including APIs, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
